OVERALL GOAL
Piere
Create an intuitive financial management app for young adults that simplifies the process of splitting shared expenses and managing budgets.
USER PAIN POINTS
Users struggle with splitting shared expenses, especially when different payment methods (cash/card) or varying order costs are involved.

Existing solutions do not provide a fair or detailed way to manage shared expenses and split transactions.
UX RESEARCH AND ANALYSIS
User Interviews
Goal: Understand the financial habits and pain points of the target audience (ages 16-30).
Method: Video interviews with 20 users.
Results: 85% of users had difficulties splitting bills in social settings, which led to the creation of the fair bill-splitting feature.
PERSONAS
To better understand our target audience, we created two key personas:
Competitor Analysis
Competitors: Mint, Venmo, Cash App, PayPal, Coinbase.
Findings: None of the competitors offered an easy solution for detailed transaction splitting. We added budgeting and P2P transfers, improving them with transaction pools and customization.
IDEATION AND PRODUCT STRUCTURE
Prototyping
Goal: Test the interface and key features.
Method: Low-fidelity prototype testing with 30 users.
Results: 40% of users couldn’t find the "Share Transaction" button. We improved navigation and added onboarding.
Testing
A/B Testing
  • Goal: Optimize key feature placement.
  • Method: A/B testing with 50 users.
  • Results: Moving the button to the main navigation increased its usage by 25%.

Usability Testing
  • Goal: Assess the final prototype version.
  • Method: Video calls with 40 users and remote testing with over 100 users.
  • Results: 52% of participants found the interface more intuitive after onboarding was added.

Card Sorting
  • Goal: Optimize the app’s information architecture.
  • Method: Card sorting with 25 users.
  • Results: 53% of users found navigation easier after improving the structure.
DESIGN AND FEATURES
Key features
Shared Transactions: Ability to split transactions with friends by attaching a receipt and marking individual orders.
Group Transactions: A feature for classifying shared expenses by category (trips, restaurants, etc.).
Transaction Pools: A tool for collecting money for group events.
Moodboard
We chose a bold purple gradient as the core visual element to stand out from competitors' more muted designs. This color choice reflects the youthful energy of our target audience and gives the app a dynamic, modern look.
Key Visual Elements
The design features semi-transparent 3D objects, reminiscent of glass-like materials, floating over the gradient background. This creates depth and visual interest, giving the app a unique, memorable identity.
BRANDING
I developed a brand guide that defined the key visual elements, including the color palette, fonts, and iconography. This guide ensured that all design work remained consistent across the app, landing page, and marketing materials.

UI DESIGN & library
component library
We also built a detailed component library that included all design mockups, ready for handoff to developers.
RESULTS
RESULTS
22% increase in feature usage for the "Share Transaction" button after improving navigation.
56% of users found navigation easier after card sorting.
41% of users reported that the interface became more intuitive after onboarding was introduced.
CONCLUSION
Piere successfully addressed user challenges related to managing shared expenses. Clear research outcomes, the development of useful features, and navigation optimization made the product competitive and appealing to the target audience.
