Mission?
I conducted user research to gather insights for the app's features and designed smooth user flows for a seamless experience. I created detailed UI designs with a consistent style and worked closely with developers to make sure the designs were implemented correctly. I also built a design system to keep the app consistent and scalable.

Introduction
Young people often struggle when it comes to managing shared expenses. Everyday situations like splitting restaurant bills, collecting money for a group trip, or tracking who paid what can be confusing and frustrating. Existing finance apps mostly focus on budgeting and do not make sharing easy or social. Piere was created to solve this gap by making shared expenses simple, fun, and intuitive.
Problem
During research, students and young professionals in Florida and New York told us about their difficulties. Splitting costs when socializing, dealing with multiple payment methods, and remembering details later were all common pain points. Existing apps were often too complicated and felt serious or boring. People wanted something fast, fair, and easy to use in casual situations.
Vision
Piere was designed as a social finance app with a simple goal — make daily money sharing effortless and friendly. The app combines AI-powered receipt scanning and splitting, shared money pools for group events, and smart tips to help users stay financially aware. The design had to feel modern, approachable, and mobile-first. We used purple gradients, glass-like elements, and the Montserrat font to create a fun and clean look that didn’t feel like a traditional finance app.
Process
The product went through several design and testing phases.
We created clickable prototypes and tested them with users from our target group. Based on their feedback, we simplified flows and added key features like the "Share transaction" button to the main menu for quick access. We also introduced onboarding and hints to help users understand features like AI receipt scanning and shared pools. The interface and interactions were continuously improved to be fast and intuitive.
Collaboration
The project involved close collaboration with developers, product managers, and test users. We worked together to balance AI features and usability, ensuring the app remained friendly and easy to use. Feedback loops were critical during testing and design sprints. Together with the team, we refined user journeys and visual design based on real user behavior and comments.
Results
Piere successfully made shared expenses simple and social. During usability tests, 90% of users completed the sharing flow without assistance. Testers described the app as “fun and easy to use” compared to traditional finance apps. The combination of AI technology and human-friendly design made it possible to solve real user problems in daily life.
This project showed how powerful a combination of research, smart technology, and clear design can be when building for young and social audiences.
